Something about prions fascinates me.
New research into how they influence other proteins to misbehave:

XCom

Anyone remember XCom? Awesome turn based tactical alien-army-fighting game?

Steam has it for $2.50! Graphics look terrible, but there aren’t many games like it.

SliceHost hosting

I love my current hosting service, SliceHost.

  • The prices are good
  • The admin tools aren’t total garbage like most other hosting sites I tried
  • Xen is used for virtualization.
  • The support is upfront and candid about any network/server issues
  • You can set up a virtual server in about 5 minutes
  • Gentoo images available!
  • What the hell else could you want?

Ok, so they did reboot my server a few times in the past 6 months. Since this is a personal site, that’s not a big deal. But if this was a business, that could be a problem (not hard to fix with redundancy though).

They are also a bunch of Ruby wanks, but their custom RoR tools are simple an easy to easy, so I’ll let this pass…
