  • It’s a filter for your brain
  • It has blood in its name
  • It has brain in its name
  • 3 b words in a row

For some reason, I always pick up on stories about this biological strainer and they are usually good news.

Check out this BBC article about good ol’ BBB: Daily caffeine ‘protects brain’

Wait a minute…

studies have shown that high levels of cholesterol in the blood can make this barrier “leaky”

Good thing I’m a vegetarian…

How to take pictures of what is going on inside a cell?

Researchers at MIT’s George R. Harrison Spectroscopy Lab have detected tiny twitches and vibrations in the membranes of individual cells and neurons by using a powerful and noninvasive imaging technique.

a laser beam passed through a sample is compared with a reference beam of similar wavelength that is not passed through the cell

neat. Can’t see something? Compare it’s affects to something you do know.
